Wherever we look these days we are confronted by major change: the geopolitical framework within which we grew up has altered beyond all recognition, technology continues to develop apace, we hear the new management buzz words of "downsizing", "right sizing", "multi-sMlling", "de-layering"; nostalgia for the "good old days" is more prevalent than ever before! Toffler introduced the term "information revolution" to describe the era through which we are living. In the 1960s, Marshal McClune, in his book "Understanding Media" had predicted many of the changes that we have witnessed and many would ascribe the collapse of communism to the opening up of the world to a global information system.
