摘要

Groundwater monitoring and prediction are required for suitable management ofrngroundwater resources in coastal areas. In this study, a field survey wasrnconducted to investigate the present situation of seawater intrusion at a coralrnisland in Japan. The immiscible approach based on the concept of an abruptrninterface approximation was applied to the analysis of the field data. Thisrnapproach was verified with laboratory data of steady and unsteady experimentsrnon saltwater intrusion. It is also shown that the calculated groundwater levelsrnand the position of the seawater intrusion are in good agreement with thernmeasured levels and the vertical position of the 50% concentration at thernobservation wells in the island.
