The main objective of this paper is to describe thecollaborative work included in the modelling exercisedenoted Task 9, which was initiated to interpret andpredict the experimental results with the objective toincrease the realism in transport modelling. Severalteams, using different transport codes and modellingapproaches, participated in the predictive exercisedenoted Task 9A aimed at an experiment performed inFinland. The results differ significantly between teamsincluding dispersion and those who are not.In the results of an in-situ experiment performed inSweden, anomalous penetration profiles of tracers wereobserved. The concentration profiles of sorbing tracersshow a sharp decrease near the rock surface, but remainat a quite high level at some distance of the rock surface.This is known to be hard to model with the classicalanalytical solution. Several modelling teams are workingon the interpretation of this experiment in the exercisedenoted Task 9B. The outcome of this collaborativeexercise is not yet finalized.
