COMPETITION STRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT TREND OF AIR CARGO TRANSPORTATION IN CHINA

In recent years, air cargo transportation industry has developed rapidly in China. This paper summarizes the development features of the industry, systematically analyses the market structure and its changes with foreign capital flooding in, compares the competitive ability of domestic airlines with foreign ones and predicts the demand for air cargo transportation in future China. With in-depth study, we have reached the following conclusions: the competition between domestic airlines and foreign ones has formed in the principal market of national air cargo transportation. With the further opening of the market, foreign capital will continue to pour in and the competition will become more furious. The reorganization of CAAC-backed aviation companies into three major groups would contribute a lot to the realization of scale economy and the enhancement of competition power of domestic airlines. The prediction for future market shows that the average annual growth rate of air cargo demand is between 12% and 14%, with international route a little higher.
