Hypertext system, with their nonlinear structures, are very convenient to organize information in computers. Since there are a lot of text data in library, or even insides in computers, it will be very useful if there exist some methodologies to translate texts into hypertexts systematically. In this paper, we develop an approach to translate texts into hypertexts. The efforts focus on automatic linking problem in the translation. In our approach, we view a reference link as an instance of a function, which maps terms into nodes. The purpose of using functions instead of links is to simplify and to integrate links in a hypertext. Thus, three topics are discussed in this paper:rn(1) term preprocessings,rn(2) link generations,rn(3) node assignments
