Comprehensive Control Techniques for Pine Wood Nematode Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and Evaluation of Effects

A national level pilot project for management pine wood nematode B. xylophilus, was conducted from 1998 to 2000. In the project, a series of methods such as epidemic situation monitoring, epidemic zone blockading, infested trees clearing, chemical control, parasitoid release, trapped vector long horn beetle and host trees regeneration were used in the project area. There were twelves epidemic sites being eliminated within three years project period, the rate of infested pine trees decrease from 0.125% to 0.065% , and it was controlled under 0.03% in most of the epidemic zones.
