Extraction of line and step edges by fuzzy reasoning

摘要

Edge detection is one of the most important algorithms in image understanding and pattern recognition. This paper presents a new method for detection and discrimination of step and line edges in an image by using a single fuzzy system. The basic idea of this paper is the integration of the fuzzy rules for both types of edges in a rule base. The study results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed pproach.
