Measurements of velocity and the temperature fluctuations havebeen performed to determine the budget of q~2 (mean turbulencekinetic energy) and θ~2 (temperature variance) in the far wake ofa cylinder. The two budgets show similar physical phenomena(advection and diffusion) as the source of large scale inhomogeneityon the flow centreline. It was noted that the estimates ofthe dissipation rates ε and χ of q~2 and θ~2, respectively, obtainedusing a spectral chart method results in a better closure in boththe q~2 and θ~2 budgets than their isotropic counterparts.
