As a consequence of inspections of the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) and dependent on the indicated imperfections the possibility of special repairs on the inner RPV wall should be taken into consideration in the future. The paper contains the main results from numerical simulations of repair weld simulations on clad structures with anticipated sub-clad defects. Various specimens with different dimensions and material compositions have been investigated. The numerical simulations were supported by experimental measurements if possible. A number of parameters were varied to aid the optimization of the repair weld like the temper bead technique, the weld bead sequence, the interpass temperature and others. Moreover, some modeling issues have been addressed like hardening models and lumping of beads. The results are discussed with respect to support the repair weld optimization and appropriate modeling.
