This paper studies the maximal ability of gas suction by single nozzle long throat water jet air ejector, which is also called the liquid jet gas pump, the main purpose is to know the range of gas flow rate. Former studies are summarized, and we draw the conclusion that the position of liquid-gas mixing and flow pattern in throat has great influence on gas suction. If ejector work with phase transition process, the state of two phase critical flow taking place in the throat of water jet air ejector is thought as one of the extreme working conditions. The maximal flow rate of gas suction under the normal conditions is calculated by one-dimensional flow formula. The calculated value agreed well with experimental results under the condition of reasonable water jet air ejector structural parameters.
