Two types of TiO_2/Y_2O and ZrO_2/Y_2O_3 composites were fabricated for enhancing the mechanical properties of Y_2O_3 ceramic. Results showed that ZrO_2/Y_2O_3 composite dramatically increased the strength and toughness as 417 MPa and 4.4 MPa.m~(1/2), respectively.
