In order to meet the requirements of household PM2.5 control,this paper researched on the filter media of low resistance,high efficiency and long life span from the existing air filter material,which would be suitable for the portable air cleaning device.Commonly used glass fiber filter paper and the electret air filtration material were chosen for the experimental study.Tests were carried out to study the filtration characteristics and then TEM and aperture tests were conducted.Results show: under different filtration velocity,the filtration efficiency of electret filter material for PM2.5 was higher than that of the glass fiber filter paper while the filtration resistance showed an opposite regularity; after washing by distilled water,the filtration efficiency of electret filter material for particulate matter was decreased and electrostatic effect of electret filtration material was found to be unstable; through the TEM test it was found that the fiber layer of glass fiber filter paper was of compact configuration and there was fracture phenomenon on the fiber,while electret filtration material was fluffy and there was no fiber breakage; aperture test showed that the average aperture of electret filtration material was 11.9 to 14.7 times that of the glass fiber filter paper,so the electret filtration material was of better air permeability and dust capacity.
