An Algorithm for the Mean Autocorrelation in Regular Arrays

The efficiency of a plot-based survey or experimental design depends on the average correlation (ρ) of within-plot values. To optimizing a survey the analyst need to know the relationship between ρ and plot-size and plot shape. This study quantifies the relationships when the autocorrelation is a power function of the Manhattan distance measure.
