According to Peter Drucker (1999), one of six major factors that determine knowledge-worker productivity is "... continuous learning and teaching." To us that means continuous knowledge sharing. In order for knowledge to be shared, there must be a relationship based on a mutual desire to get and give knowledge. In order to get and give knowledge, there must be a means of encoding it, transmitting it, and decoding it for use and reuse. The key is to identify those factors that are critical to success for each of these tasks in the process and to measure their contribution in producing quality results. This study investigates the impact of knowledge sharing on the productivity of that subset of knowledge workers doing quality improvements. Based on a survey of quality professionals, it produces a predictive model to determine their productivity and success of their quality initiatives as a result of knowledge sharing.
