Utility companies and No Dig operators are frequently asking for tools able to provide them with reliablerninformation on underground objects and pipes when they have to deal with a new installation, but,rnunfortunately, accuracy of available maps is poor.rnGeoradar (GPR) technology has been found attractive on this respect and the use of such equipment hasrnbeen suggested for this purpose more than 10 years ago.rnHowever, mistakes due to the use of inadequate or “general purpose” systems, have produced results worsernthan expected and disappointed professionals.rnIt was in the early ’90 that IDS – Ingegneria dei Sistemi focused on the development of specialised systemsrnto be used for different applications, replacing the more traditional “general purpose” radar systems, in orderrnto overcome their limitations (mainly low detection rate, insufficient accuracy, and low productivity).
