NONDESTRUCTIVE CONCRETE DISTRESS INVESTIGATION: CASE STUDY

This paper provides a case study of a nondestructive distress investigation of a concrete structure exposed to a harsh marine environment. The distressed concrete observed in the structure in question is typical of what is found in similar structures along the eastern seaboard. The spalling and delamination described herein is especially common among many of the aging condominiums along the east coast of Florida. This paper presents one successful approach to the nondestructive analysis of such distress (i.e. inspection and testing procedures), as well as recommended repair techniques. The information presented herein may be helpful to engineers and constructors in the evaluation and repair of structures exposed to similar environmental distress.
