A Model Based Approach in Determining the Performance of EV Under Different Drive Cycles

摘要

This paper aims to provide an analysis of plug in electric vehicle's (PEVs) performance, based on variations of parameters. Mainly two types of batteries are used, such as Lithium-ion (Li-ion) and Lead-Acid (LA) battery. The batteries are properly modelled using their significant parameters and with the help of energy flow model, the flow of energy, i.e. energy from battery to car and from car to wheel has been studied here. Modelling of car, i.e. vehicle dynamics along with road dynamics is one of the most important block of the model. The flow of energy from car to road is dependent on conditions of road, i.e. drive cycle. Modelling of such a PEVs and forecasting its range, Depth of Discharge (DOD), battery characteristics for different drive cycles have been investigated. Depending upon the change of road grade angle, abrupt changes in performance of vehicle have been analyzed.
