A compact asymmetrical parallel slotted multiband microstrip patch antenna is proposed for Bluetooth and C band (4-8 GHz) applications. The proposed antenna is designed to operate at 2.4 GHz, 5.5 GHz, 7.2 GHz and 8 GHz. The proposed antenna is fed by 50 Ω microstrip feed line and fabricated on a low cost FR-4 substrate having dimensions 40 mm (L) × 40 mm (W) × 1.6 mm (h) with relative permittivity εr=4.4 and loss tangent δ = 0.025. The proposed antenna is designed by etching three asymmetrical slots on a rectangular patch. Simulation is performed using CST microwave studio suite software. VSWR, reflection co-efficient and radiation pattern of the antenna are discussed in this paper. The proposed antenna can be used for Bluetooth application for IEEE 802.15.1 (operating in 2.402-2.480 GHz band), wireless local area network (WLAN) for IEEE 802.11 a (operating in the 5.15-5.828 GHz band), Defence and major commercial television broadcasters.
