The T5HO lamp has penetrated traditional core marketsrnassociated with HID lighting such as Industrial andrnWarehouse applications. As this new lamp made inroadsrninto these markets – some of the shortcomings associatedrnwith fluorescent lamps have become more evident. Inrnparticular, fluorescent lamp lumen output is veryrndependent upon the ambient temperature surrounding thernlamp. As temperature increases beyond a certain point,rnlumen output drops significantly – requiring periodic over-lightingrnor acceptance of lower light levels. This paperrndiscusses the details and impact of this loss mechanism andrnpresents a unique, passive solution to minimize thesernlosses – resulting in greater energy savings and higherrnmaintained illumination levels.
