The aim of this work is to present an alternative technique for the treatment of watersrncontaminated by dispersed oil. Furthermore, the treatment system should achieve highrnremoval efficiencies even under unfavorable conditions, when oil is finely dispersed in waterrnphase and oil droplet sizes range of 10 – 30 μm and concentrations between 100 and 200rnmg/L. The system presented in this work focuses the association of centrifugal separation ledrnin hydrocyclone and the flotation operation. The considered system is characterized by thernassociation of these two processes, resulting the set-up in a compact unit (centrifugalrnflotation system). The bubbles generation, the flocculation and the droplet-bubble contactrnwere performed through a static mixer, while the separation of the phase rich in oil (frothrnphase) was promoted by a hydrocyclone. The oil-in-water emulsions were prepared fromrncrude oil from P-31 platform (PETROBRAS), with 29 oAPI. The emulsions used to be veryrnstable with oil droplet sizes between 10 and 20 μm and concentrations between 90 and 125rnmg/L.
