DOING BUSINESS IN CHINA: PRACTICALITIES OF ESTABLISHING JOINT VENTURES

This Paper has discussed some of the major issues that arise in drafting a Chinese joint venture contract and establishing a joint venture company. There are many other issues to be considered in establishing any joint venture, including labor and tax issues. The Chinese legal structure for foreign investment and commercial activities generally is continuing to evolve at a rapid pace, creating new opportunities for foreign investors, asrnwell as occasional new roadblocks. While this complex and changing environment can pose many challenges, most foreign investors will agree that it also has the potential to reward the careful investor.
