Methods for Generating Travel Time Representation from Probe Vehicle Data

This paper presents two methods for generating representative travel times from probe vehiclerndata. The methods are based on statistical analysis (LLsF) and signal processing (EMD)rnrespectively. We show that the EMD method is more capable of capturing detailed fluctuationsrnof the raw probe data. Depending on the purpose of the application, users can select anrnappropriate representation as needed. The study presented in this paper is still preliminary andrnfuture research directions are thus suggested to further verify both methods.
