This paper will present an approach to simulate andrnanalyse the microvibration signature of reaction wheelsrnwith the goal to improve the understanding ofrnmicrovibration measurements performed with suchrnmechanisms for the future development of nonintrusivernhealth monitoring systems for spacernmechanisms.rnAt first the background of reaction wheel relatedrnmicrovibrations will be discussed, including a typicalrnmicrovibration signature of a reaction wheel which willrnbe presented. The relevant signal components inrnmeasurement data will be identified and described.rnBased on this, a method will be presented to simulaternthe microvibration signature of the reaction wheels.rnThe model approach as well as the fundamentalrnequations and the analysis strategy will be discussed.rnBoth, measurement and simulation results will berncompared briefly. The individual effects, which can berndescribed by the model, will be outlined.rnThe paper concludes with some conceptual ideas onrnhow the modelling and analysis methodology can bernapplied for an autonomous non-intrusive healthrnmonitoring system for future spacecraft mechanisms.
