Overview and prospects of the Chinese dairy goat production and management

As one of the main part of animal production in China, dairy goats are producing significantrneconomic benefits for farmers, dairy goat related industries grew steadily in the past 10 years;rnthere are about 12 million dairy goats which account for 6% of the total goat number in China.rnLeading dairy goat breeds of China are mainly white coat Saanen related althoughrnToggenburg and Nubian had been imported into China as well. This review elucidated thernhistory of dairy goat, functional goat milk properties, the dairy goat production and researchrnin China, perspective of dairy goat industries was also discussed. It indicated that goatrnproducers can work together to advocate the sustainable and organic dairy goat industry basedrnon the unremitting efforts to develop the goat milk market, institutions involving dairy goatrnresearch could establish the close international cooperation to support the further developmentrnof goat industries in either developed and developing countries.
