    • 摘要: BACKGROUND The most widely accepted treatment for pediatric supracondylar humeral fracture is closed reduction and percutaneous pinning(CRPP). However, there is debate regarding the technique that is utilized, whether crossed or lateral pinning, and the number of pins used.AIM To compare the functional and radiological outcomes of lateral and cross pinning in the management of humeral supracondylar fracture.METHODS A retrospective analysis was performed on 101 patients who were surgically managed by either one of the CRPP techniques from 2015 to 2019. Several clinical parameters were taken into account, including pre-and post-intervention Baumann angle, as well as scores for pain, range of motion, function, and stability. Statistical analysis was performed to study the outcomes of the utilized techniques.RESULTS Amongst our study sample, which included 63 males and 38 females with a mean age of 5.87 years, about one-third of the patients underwent crossed pinning fixation configuration and the remaining two-thirds were managed by lateral pinning configuration. Similar results were obtained in the two groups with no statistical difference regarding Mayo elbow performance scores(MEPS) and Baumann angle. The mean MEPS in the lateral and crossed pinning groups were 93.68 + 8.59 and 93.62 + 9.05, respectively. The mean Baumann angle was 72.5° + 6.46 in the lateral group and 72.3° + 4.70 in the crossed-pinning group(P = 0.878).CONCLUSION Both lateral pinning and crossed pinning fixation configuration for displaced pediatric supracondylar humeral fractures provide similar functional and radiological outcomes.

    • 摘要: The implantable cardioverter-defibrillator(ICD)is a key component in the primary pre-vention of sudden cardiac death in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy.Appropriate device programming is pivotal in maximizing the benefit as well as minimizing any proarrhythmic effect of dev-ice therapy.It is even more so for patients who require pacing for bradycardia,in which interaction of the de-vice with intrinsic rhythm may generate unexpected consequences.We report a case of pacing induced ven-tricular tachycardia as a result of complex interplay of competitive atrial pacing,atrial and ventricular func-tional undersensing,ventricular functional loss of capture,and the AutoCapture®algorithm specific to Abbott devices.

    • 摘要: Deep learning(DL)is currently revolutionizing peptide drug development due to both computational advances and the substantial recent expansion of digitized biological data.However,progress in oligopeptide drug development has been limited,likely due to the lack of suitable datasets and difficulty in identifying informative features to use as inputs for DL models.Here,we utilized an unsupervised deep learning model to learn a semantic pattern based on the intrinsically disordered regions of~171 known osteogenic proteins.Subsequently,oligopeptides were generated from this semantic pattern based on Monte Carlo simulation,followed by in vivo functional characterization.A five amino acid oligopeptide(AIB5P)had strong bone-formation-promoting effects,as determined in multiple mouse models(e.g.,osteoporosis,fracture,and osseointegration of implants).Mechanistically,we showed that AIB5P promotes osteogenesis by binding to the integrinα5 subunit and thereby activating FAK signaling.In summary,we successfully established an oligopeptide discovery strategy based on a DL model and demonstrated its utility from cytological screening to animal experimental verification.

    • 摘要: Aluminium hybrid functionally graded metal matrix composites(FGMMCs),meet growing demands for supreme tribo-mechanical performance in automotive and aviation industry.This research experimentally compares the influence of carbide ceramics(B_(4)C,SiC,TiC)as reinforcements,in improving reciprocating tribology performance and mechanical strength of A333 hybrid composites against alloy.Hollow cylindrical samples of A333/6 wt%B_(4)C/4 wt%TiC and A333/6 wt%B_(4)C/4 wt%SiC hybrid FGMMCs were developed using horizontal centrifugal casting.Metallography analysis on both composites revealed increasing ceramic gradient distribution towards outer composite wall.Particle rich zone of A333/B_(4)C/SiC hybrid FGMMC showed maximum micro-hardness(198.9 HV)and tensile strength(267.9 MPa).Elemental mapping confirmed effective distribution of ceramics and detected elemental composition of both composites.Particle rich layer of A333/B_(4)C/SiC hybrid FGMMC exhibited improved wear resistance in comparison with all three layers of A333/B_(4)C/TiC hybrid FGMMC and alloy.Third-body abrasion and tribo-chemical wear were the predominant mechanisms revealed for both composites during worn surface analysis.

    • 摘要: Rational design and synthesis of low-cost trifunctional electrocatalysts with improved stability and superior electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),oxygen evolution reaction(OER),and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) are highly desirable but remain as the bottlenecks at the current state of technology.In this paper,the cobalt-iron(Co-Fe) composite supported on nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(CoFe composite/NCNTs) is synthesized.The intrinsic OER and HER catalytic activities of this CoFe composite/NCNTs composite are significantly improved with palladium(Pd) nanocluster decoration [Pd-coated(CoFe composite/NCNTs)].The as-prepared Pd-coated(CoFe composite/NCNTs) catalyst exhibits excellent trifunctional electrocatalytic activity and stability due to the interfacial coupling between Pd and(CoFe composite/NCNTs).This catalyst is successfully employed in the water electrolysis cell as both OER and HER electrode catalysts,flexible rechargeable Zn-air battery as the bifunctional ORR and OER electrode catalyst.The cell voltage of this catalyst-coated electrodes requires only 1.60 V to achieve 10 mA cm^(-2) current density for water electrolysis cell,which is comparable to and even better than that of Pt/C and Ir/C based cell.The primary Zn-air battery using this catalyst shows a constant high open-circuit voltage(OCV) of 1.47 V and a maximum power density of 261 mW cm^(-2) in the flooded mode configuration.Most importantly,a flexible Zn-air battery with this catalyst runs very smoothly without a change in voltage gap during flat,bending,and twisting positions.

    • 摘要: Sulfonic acid functionalized titanate nanotubes were prepared by the sulphonation reaction of hydrothermally synthesized TiO_(2) nanotubes(TNTs) using chlorosulfonic acid as the sulfating agent.The as-prepared catalysts were characterized by fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(SEM-EDX),Xray diffraction(XRD) analysis,thermogravimetry-differential thermal gravimetry(TG-DTG) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)techniques.The characterization results revealed that the catalysts retained the tubular structure of the TNTs and possessed a large number of active sulfonic acid sites.The catalytic performance of the catalysts for the synthesis of n-butyl levulinate was investigated via the alcoholysis of biomass-derived furfuryl alcohol under atmospheric pressure.The effects of the reaction factors such as the catalyst dosage,reaction time,and temperature on the alcoholysis of the furfuryl alcohol were systematically studied.Under mild conditions,about 79.9% yield of n-butyl levulinate was achieved.In addition,the catalysts showed a stable catalytic performance after four consecutive cycles.Furthermore,no leaching of the active species was observed during the hot filtration testing,which can be attributed to the covalently linked –SO_(3)H groups on the TNTs surface.In addition,the opened tubular nanostructure of the catalyst and the introduced strong Br?nsted acid sites exhibited synergistic effects,which facilitated the selective conversion of the furfuryl alcohol to butyl levulinate.

    • 摘要: Seeking for extremely active and durable bifunctional electrocatalysts towards the overall water splitting possesses a strategic significance on the development of sustainable and clean energy for the replacement of fossil fuels.Ir-based nanomaterials are deemed as one of the most highefficiency oxygen evolution reaction electrocatalysts while the hydrogen evolution reaction performance is unfavorable.In this work,we report a one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of N-doped graphene anchored Ir nanoparticles(Ir/N-rGO) with ultrasmall particle size(~2.0 nm).Apart from the predictably superior OER performance,the resultant Ir/N-rGO also displays excellent hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) performance,requiring merely 76 and 260 mV overpotentials to achieve the current density of 10 mA cm^(-2) towards HER and OER,respectively.When applied as the bifunctional electrodes for overall water splitting,Ir/N-rGO needs a lower overpotential(1.74 V) to achieve a current density of50 mA cm^(-2) in alkaline solution,exceeding that of Pt/C and RuO_(2) couple(1.85 V).Thus,the as-fabricated Ir/N-rGO has a commendable prospect in the practical application of alkaline water electrocatalysis.

    • 摘要: Embryonic stem cells(ESCs)provide an ideal model for investigating developmental processes and are great sources for developing regenerative m edicine.Harnessing apoptosis facilitates accurate recapitulation of signalling events during em bryogenesis and allows efficient expansion of the ESCs during differentiation.Bcl2,a key regulator of intrinsic anti-apoptotic pathway,encodes two splicing isoforms.However,the identification and functional comparison of Bcl2 splicing isoforms in mouse ESCs(mESCs)remains to be elucidated.Here,we provide the evidence that both Bcl2 splicing variants are expressed in mESCs.Despite the structural difference,they have similar subcellular localization.
