Disclosed is a novel in-vitro screening method capable of efficiently carrying out primary screening for a prophylactic or therapeutic drug for urinary calculosis. Also disclosed is a novel established cell line that can be used for the screening. The method for screening a prophylactic or therapeutic drug for urinary calculosis includes culturing, in the presence of an analyte, of cells derived from proximal tubule, the cells capable of forming calcareous deposit in in-vitro culture. The suppression of calcareous deposit formation indicates a high probability that the analyte has the effect of preventing or suppressing the urinary calculosis.
