The present invention relates to a PAM4 receiver training method for adaptively training a PAM4 receiver using a training data pattern. The PAM4 receiver training method according to the present invention is a PAM4 receiver training method including a linear equalizer, a sampler, and a DEMUX, (a) (i) data “00” and consecutive first data “11” to m-th data a first training data pattern including “11”; and (ii) a second training data pattern comprising at least one of data “01” and data “10”; (b) the data "00 obtained by equalizing the first training data pattern and the second training data pattern received in step (a) according to the equalization parameters of the linear equalizer including a high frequency amplification gain and a low frequency amplification gain generating an output signal CTLE_out including data levels dlev 0 , dlev 1 , dlev 2 , and dlev 3 corresponding to “, “01”, “10” and “11”, respectively; (c) (i) the level of the output signal CTLE_out corresponding to the first data “11” when transitioning from the data “00” of the first training data pattern to the first data “11” the difference between the upper voltage level limit (dlev 3H ) of the (dlev 3HD ); (ii) a difference dlev 3LD between the level of the output signal CTLE_out corresponding to any one of the second data “11” to the m-th data “11” and a predetermined voltage level lower limit dlev 3L ; and (iii) the difference (dlev 1D ) between the level of the output signal CTLE_out corresponding to the data “01” of the second training data pattern and the data level dlev 1 or the output corresponding to the data “10” generating an output signal SAMPLE_out by sampling a difference (dlev 2D ) between the level of the signal CTLE_out and the data level dlev 2 ; (d) generating an output signal DATA_out by parallelizing the output signal SAMPLE_out; (e) a signal (EQ_AC[N AC -1:0]) for adjusting the high frequency amplification gain according to the difference (dlev 3HD ) included in the output signal (DATA_out); and generating a signal (EQ_DC[N DC -1:0]) for adjusting the low-frequency amplification gain according to the difference (dlev 3LD ); (f) data level (dlev 1 ) or data level (dlev 2 ) depending on said difference (dlev 1D ) or difference (dlev 2D ); and the threshold voltage (V TH01 , V TH12 , V TH23 ) of the sampler from the voltage level upper limit (dlev 3H ), the voltage level lower limit (dlev 3L ) and data levels (dlev 0 , dlev 1 , dlev 2 , dlev 3 ) generating; (g) adaptively adjusting the equalization parameter according to the signal (EQ_AC[N AC -1:0]) and the signal (EQ_DC[N DC -1:0]) generated in the step (e); and (h) the data level (dlev 1 ), the data level (dlev 2 ), the voltage level upper limit (dlev 3H ), the voltage level lower limit (dlev 3L ) and the threshold voltage (V) generated in the step (f). and adaptively adjusting the sampling parameter of the sampler according to TH01 , V TH12 , V TH23 ) (m is a natural number of 2 or more, N AC and N DC are natural numbers).
