A gold leaching agent for selectively leaching gold from a gold-containing material, and a preparation method therefor and application thereof. The gold leaching agent is composed of halogen-containing organic matters that are soluble in water and is made by adding the water-soluble halogen-containing organic matters into an aqueous solution and then performing stirring and dissolving. The gold leaching agent is used for selective leaching and recovery of gold from a gold-containing material. The gold leaching agent is a leaching substance having low toxicity, stable chemical properties, and capable of leaching gold quickly, mildly and with high selectivity; the gold leaching rate is higher than most of the traditional leaching agents such as cyanide leaching agent; little secondary pollution is caused after leaching; the treatment difficulty of the leaching liquid is low; the raw materials are widely-available; the preparation process is simple; the requirements for preparation devices are low; and the wide population in industry is facilitated.
