To provide a three-dimensional coordinate measurement method and a three-dimensional coordinate measurement machine which perform efficient measurement.SOLUTION: A three-dimensional coordinate measurement method includes: a temperature acquisition process (step S10) of acquiring the temperature of a workpiece and the temperatures of X-, Y- and Z-axis scales of a three-dimensional coordinate measurement machine; an environment temperature determination process (step S12) of comparing the temperatures acquired in the temperature acquisition process with an environment determination threshold, determining as normal when the temperatures are appropriate for the measurement of three-dimensional coordinates, and determining as abnormal when the temperatures are inappropriate for the measurement of three-dimensional coordinates; and a stop process (step S15) of temporarily stopping the execution of a measurement program when abnormality is determined in the environment temperature determination process.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
