Delayed release drug formulation comprising an outer layer having an enzymatically degradable polymer, compositions thereof, and methods of making the same

A method of producing a coatable core for a delayed release drug formulation for oral administration for delivery of a drug to the colon. The method includes forming a core comprising a drug. The outer layer coating preparation comprises a first aqueous preparation of an enzymatically degradable polymer that is degradable by colonic bacterial enzymes; a second aqueous preparation of a film-forming enteric polymer having a pH threshold of at least about pH 6; and an organic anti-viscosity agent. The core is then coated with the outer layer coating preparation to form an outer layer coated core.
