A method for producing a passport-booklet block (128) for a book-like identity or security document or document of value (100), wherein the identity or security document or document of value (100) has a cover (102) and a passport-booklet block (104) comprising a data card (106), a plurality of double pages (108), a front page (110) and a binding tape (112), wherein the data card (106) has a flexible flap (120), which is connected to the data card (106) along a periphery, wherein the data card (106) with the flexible flap (120), the double pages (108), the front page (110) and the binding tape (112) are sewn together by a seam (114), and wherein the cover (102) has an inner side (126) adhesively bonded over its surface area to an outer side (124) of the front page (110), has the following steps: - supplying a stack consisting of the data card (106), the double pages (108) and the front page (110), - supplying a binding tape (112), wherein the binding tape (112) is provided in the form of an endless tape and is cut to the required length, wherein the binding tape (112) has an adhesive layer which has an activation temperature, - positioning the binding tape (112) on the stack, and - heating the adhesive layer to the activation temperature and connecting the binding tape (112) integrally to the stack.
