The invention relates to the field of sport, fitness and sports equipment. More particularly, the invention can be used for athletic training, general physical conditioning in health and fitness centres, and independent exercise in small premises and the home. The invention can be used for developing the flexibility, strength and endurance of the hip adductor muscles and the stabilizer muscles of the hip and pelvis region. An exercising apparatus for developing the flexibility, strength and endurance of the hip adductor muscles and the stabilizer muscles of the hip and pelvis region comprises a base with support posts attached thereto; a platform consisting of two halves is disposed at the bottom on tubular runners; connected to the base are posts to which are attached handrails, post reinforcers with pins for adjusting the height of the handrails, handrails for performing a front split, handrails for performing a side split, and fasteners with cells; also provided are: a stop post, to which is mounted a height-adjustable post with hooks; castors mounted in the platform; rubber cushions for softening the impact of the platform against the support post; and a limiter for limiting the range of movement of the platform during exercise. A method for simultaneously developing the flexibility, strength and endurance of the adductor muscles and the stabilizer muscles of the hip and pelvis region consists in that the user stands on the two halves of the platform and grasps the upper handrails with their elbows bent at an angle of 90˚; the user moves the two halves of the platform apart on the castors, using their feet, then gradually straightens the elbows, gradually reducing the amount of assistance provided by the arms and increasing the load on the legs; during the return movement of the legs, the arms are used to gradually provide assistance until the starting position is reached; as the user grows accustomed to the load, the upper handrails are progressively lowered until the user is able to perform a full split. A side split is then performed in the same manner. The method for simultaneously developing the flexibility, strength and endurance of the adductor muscles and the stabilizer muscles of the hip and pelvis region further consists in that, if desired, the user increases the load on the developing muscles with the aid of elastic tensioners fastened to the height-adjustable posts from the hips. The invention achieves the technical result of creating a structurally simple apparatus that enables simultaneous development of the flexibility, strength and endurance of the hip adductor muscles and the stabilizer muscles of the hip and pelvis region.
