A multi-photon microscope that excites a fluorescent material in a sample using multi-photon excitation, a repetition rate variator that lowers a light pulse train output from a pulsed laser to a repetition rate for time-gated detection; A scanner that scans the light pulse train transmitted from the repetition rate variable in X-axis and Y-axis directions, an objective lens that irradiates the optical signal scanned by the scanner to a sample, and obtains a fluorescence signal emitted from the excited fluorescent material; A photodetector for photoelectric conversion of the fluorescence signal obtained through the objective lens, an amplifier for converting a current signal output from the photodetector into a voltage signal, a digitizer for sampling the voltage signal output from the amplifier, and the digitizer and a computing device that divides the outputted sampling data into a detection window set in the time domain, and generates an image based on the sampling data separated by the detection window.
