To provide a log acquisition device with which it is possible to facilitate collecting log data when a communication apparatus, such as a router device, is found malfunctioning and improve maintainability.SOLUTION: The log acquisition device is constituted as a program logger in which information indicating log items needed for diagnosing a fault point that causes the malfunction of a communication apparatus, such as a router device 20, is programmed in advance and held in a memory 18 as a necessary log item list 18a. Before log data acquired from the router device is transmitted to a maintenance computer 40 that diagnoses a fault point of the router device, the log acquisition device confirms, with respect to the log data having been acquired and saved in the memory as acquired log data 18b, whether not the log data pertaining to the log items needed for diagnosing a fault point of the router device are all available, and if not, re-acquires log data pertaining to insufficient log items additionally from the router device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
