The present invention relates to a heel unit of a touring binding, comprising a base which is provided for mounting on a gliding board, coupling means which are designed to engage with a heel section of a gliding board shoe in a downhill position of the touring binding in order to place the gliding board shoe on the touring binding to hold, a release mechanism by which the coupling means are movably held relative to the base so that they can be released from engagement with the gliding board shoe in the downhill position of the touring binding when a force exceeding a predetermined release force is applied, the release mechanism having a spring means which the predetermined release force determined, an adjustment mechanism by means of which the touring binding is adjustable between the downhill position and a walking position in which the coupling means are arranged in a position away from the gliding board shoe, so that they do not come into engagement with the gliding board shoe, the adjustment mechanism having an actuation arrangement which can be manually operated by a user between a locking position in which the adjustment mechanism is locked in the starting position or in the walking position, and a locking position in which the adjustment mechanism is disengaged and can be moved from the departure position into the walking position or from the walking position into the departure position substantially without an operating force or with an operating force which is smaller than the predetermined triggering force.
