The diameter of the nerve wherefrom the Morton's neuroma originates and the diameter of the Morton's neuroma are measured during ultrasound (US) examination. The ratio of the diameter of the Morton's neuroma to the diameter of the nerve is therein determined. If the ratio of said diameters does not exceed 2, radiofrequency destruction of the nerve is performed, if the ratio of the diameters is greater than 2 but not freater than 4, laser destruction of the Morton's neuroma is performed.
