Provided is a method for promoting anti-apoptotic pathway in mammal cells by enhancing acetylation of a transcription factor GATA4. The method includes contacting the mammal cells with an agent in an amount effective to increase the acetylation of GATA4, wherein the agent is configured to enhance the acetylation of GATA4 at 328th and 330th lysine residues (K328 and K330) within a carboxyl terminal Zn-finger region. Provided is a method for promoting anti-apoptotic pathway in mammal cells by inhibiting deacetylase activity of SIRT6. The method includes contacting the mammal cells with an agent in an amount effective to inhibit the deacetylase activity of SIRT6, wherein the agent is a peptide including an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2, or an analog thereof.
