A gray box purging method and apparatus using a distance-based fitness function are disclosed. A gray-box fuzzing method performed by a gray-box fuzzing apparatus according to an embodiment includes: a scheduling step in which a fuzzer selects a seed to execute a program test from a seed collection; testing the program using the selected seed; and a seed management step of updating the seed set according to a preset criterion for a fitness function based on distance information calculated using information on program execution tracking obtained by testing the program.
