Embodiments of the present invention provide a method performed on a computer for processing a configuration for cognitive sorting of multilingual data. The method comprises breaking down a multilingual input text into a plurality of sorting objects. The method includes recognizing a language of each sorting object from the plurality of sorting objects. The method comprises storing each sorting object from the plurality of sorting objects in a corresponding sub-language buffer from a plurality of sub-language buffers. The method includes performing a first sorting operation on the plurality of sub-language buffers, the first sorting operation including sorting the plurality of sub-language buffers based on a set of sort settings, the set of sort settings including a language selection list. The method includes merging contents of the sorted plurality of sub-language buffers to form a sorted output having the plurality of sort objects.
