The tin-based sliding bearing alloy contains zinc in a content of 2 to 14% by weight as its main alloying element, and has a Sn-Zn eutectic as its main structural element. The content of zinc as the main alloying element can be expanded to 2 to 30% by weight by adding additional alloying elements. Antimony and/or copper may additionally be used as further main alloying elements.
