A textile venetian window shade assembly comprising: a textile venetian window shade comprising a pair of opposing first and second sheathings joined by a plurality of vanes; an actuation system comprising: a roller configured to receive the textile venetian window shade; a spring-loaded ratchet operatively coupled to the roller; a first weighted rail attached to a lower edge of the first sheath; and a second weighted rail attached to a lower edge of the second sheath, wherein the first weighted rail and the second weighted rail are distinct.
