A method for alleviating ultraviolet damage using ethyl acetate extract of HAMANAKA

A method of alleviating UV damage, which comprises administering to a subject in need thereof a composition containing an ethyl acetate extract of Lunna esculenta. The ethyl acetate extract of Scutellaria baicalensis is produced by a method comprising the following steps. (A) a step of extracting Hamamannenkusa using a monohydric alcohol solution to obtain an alcoholic extract from Hamamannenshisa; (b) partitioning the alcoholic extract with water and n-hexane to obtain an aqueous layer and n-hexane. A step of obtaining a layer, and (c) a step of partitioning the aqueous layer obtained in the step (b) with ethyl acetate, and then collecting the formed ethyl acetate layer to obtain an ethyl acetate extract of Scutellaria baicalensis.
