The present invention relates to a system for managing material information and, more particularly, to a system for managing big data material information on the basis of automatic swatch recognition, the system being capable of automatically recognizing a swatch so as to provide relevant information to a customer, and thus the customer can conveniently check various pieces of information about materials corresponding to the swatch anytime and anywhere when the manufacture of a sample book having large time and expense requirements is excluded. To this end, the present invention comprises: a swatch having a recognition unit that can identify by material; a customer terminal for automatically identifying a material through the recognition unit of the swatch; and a material information management server for classifying material information that corresponds, one-to-one, to a plurality of swatches so as to produce big data, and feeding back material information identified by the customer terminal.
