The present invention provides a method of treating tobacco material, which in turn produces a dry tobacco material treated with intermittent contact of the tobacco starting material with the heated surface. Also, an apparatus for treating tobacco material is provided. The present invention also provides processed tobacco material and a product containing the treated surface and dried.
