A self-potential method-based early warning system for delayed water bursting in a goaf region (4), and a use method therefor, relating to the field of coal mine safety technologies and engineering. The system comprises a data collection device (1), a data processing device, an early warning device, and a self-potential monitoring device. The self-potential monitoring device comprises a reference electrode (2) and at least one measurement electrode (3); each measurement electrode (3) is correspondingly connected to a data collection card (5); the data collection card (5) is used for temporarily storing a potential signal collected by the measurement electrode (3); a protection device (7) is provided above each data collection card (5); and real-time monitoring is performed on self-potential in the goaf region (4) by means of the self-potential monitoring device. The system can achieve the real-time monitoring of self-potential in the goaf region (4), can monitor a groundwater flow potential signal in the goaf region (4) in real time by means of data collection and processing, and can effectively achieve the early warning of delayed water bursting in the goaf region (4), thereby effectively reducing or preventing the potential safety hazard of delayed water bursting in the goaf region (4).
