A device with a spindle for a machine tool, a pick-up ring and a tool holder is described. According to an example, the pick-up ring is located on the spindle and can be moved along a spindle axis. The spindle and the tool holder have corresponding surfaces, which are trained to form a power-tight connection in (interconnected) condition. In mounted condition, opposite surfaces of the tool holder and the pick-up ring have corresponding contours so that the pick-up ring can break into the tool holder.
