Countermeasure deployment system to facilitate neutralization of target air vehicles

A system for neutralizing a target air vehicle includes a projectile launch mechanism that fires a projectile supporting a counterattack unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with air vehicle countermeasures. The counterattack UAV is collapsible from the projectile and unfolds when detached from the projectile. The system includes an aerial vehicle detection system including a detection sensor for detecting a target aerial vehicle. Upon detection, the projectile launch mechanism fires the projectile, and then the counterattack UAV is disconnected from the projectile and activated in flight to neutralize the detected target air vehicle against air vehicle countermeasures. The projectile launch mechanism may include a movable platform including a plurality of projectiles and a counterattack UAV and may include a detection sensor for detecting a target aerial vehicle.
