Detection of ascopheric acid in urine samples

Disclosed herein is a method for detecting ascorbic acid in a urine sample from a subject. The method includes contacting at least a portion of a urine sample with a test strip that includes a reagent pad and detecting whether ascorbic acid is present in the urine sample. Detecting includes measuring the color intensity of the reagent pad, wherein a decrease in the color intensity of the reagent pad indicates the presence of ascorbic acid.
