The invention relates to psychophysiology for monitoring and objectively measuring emotional reactions. An analysis of the emotional reaction of a group of users during viewing of audio-visual content is carried out, which includes the steps of: displaying audio-visual content on a screen to each user in a group of users, during which time photoplethysmography is carried out on the user and the skin conductance response is measured; and determining a current average index of emotional valence for each second by calculating the difference in amplitude of an upper curve and a lower curve of the photoplethysmogram. A current average index of emotional engagement is determined for each second by calculating the sum of a first derivative of a function of the skin conductance response and 40% of a first derivative of the emotional engagement in the corresponding second. An audio signal is played to each user in the group for a duration of 2 seconds at a volume of 65 dB. Test indices of emotional valence and emotional engagement are determined, and the current average indices of emotional valence and emotional engagement are normalized to said test indices of emotional valence and emotional engagement, which makes it possible to increase the accuracy of real-time analysis of the emotional reactions of a specific respondent for each second of viewing of audio-visual content, compare the emotional reactions of different people during viewing of audio-visual content, and also calculate statistical parameters.
