FIELD: oil, gas and petrochemical industries.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a component for use in the oil, gas and / or petrochemical industries. The component includes at least two adjacent segments, laser welded joints connecting the adjacent segments and possibly a heat affected zone (HAZ) adjacent to the welds, where the HAZ, if present, has a thickness of 0, 0025 cm (0.001 in.) or less. Segments include common grade carbon steel, cast iron, low alloy steel, high carbon steel having a carbon equivalent (CE) greater than or equal to 0.48, titanium alloy, nickel-based alloy, cobalt-based alloy, iron-nickel alloy, duplex stainless steel or their combinations.;EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing reliability of the welded joint by eliminating or practically eliminating the heat-affected zone and, accordingly, increasing the strength and toughness of the component. ;13 cl, 8 dwg, 1 ex
